Evan PriceEvan W. Price, 89, of Astoria died at 1:25 p.m. Wednesday, May 10, 2006, at Astoria Gardens & Rehab Center in Astoria.

He was born March 20, 1917, in Vermont, a son of Verne O. and Adah E. Clark Price. He married Lois L. Etter on March 27, 1939, in Astoria. She died June 1, 2000.

Surviving are one son, Rodney (and Beth) of Astoria; one daughter, Rhonda (and Michael) Barfield of St. Charles, Mo.; and six grandchildren.

He was a member of Astoria Christian Church where he and his wife were very active. He served as a Sunday school teacher, elder, board member and janitor. He and his wife also sang with various members of the community in the Kingdom Builders Quartet. He was a former member of Astoria Masonic Lodge #116.

He was a carpenter after high school. Later, he was owner/operator of Broadway Super Service in Astoria and then Price Oil Company in Astoria before retiring in 1974.

Services were held Friday at Astoria Christian Church with Rev. Ray Artrip officiating. Burial was in Astoria Cemetery. Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria was in charge of arrangements.
