James PollittJames T. Pollitt, 69, of Ipava died at 6:45 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 4, 2005, at McDonough District Hospital in Macomb.

He was born Dec. 4, 1935, in Canton, a son of James Thomas and Harriett McCamant Pollitt. He married Judy Slaight on Sept. 2, 1960, in Lewistown. She survives.

Also surviving are four daughters, Lisa (and Tony) Slinker of Minier, Kelly (and Chris) Heitz of Vermont, Julie (and Bill) McDonald of Bushnell and Becky Pollitt of Springfield; one son, Brian (and Stephanie) of Jacksonville; and 10 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one sister, Elizabeth Jane Pollitt; and one brother, Gerald Pollitt.

He served in the National Guard.

He worked for Ohio River Co. for five years and for AMAX Coal Co. in Vermont for 23 years. He also worked in carpentry and woodworking throughout his life.

He was a member of Astoria Church of the Brethren.

Services were held Friday at Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria with Rev. Gary Schultz and Rev. Layton Malone officiating. Burial was in Oak Hill Cemetery in Lewistown.

Memorials may be made to his church or Ipava Rescue Squad.
