Gerald Pollitt

Gerald A. Pollitt, 61, of Hahira, Ga., formerly of Lewistown, died Saturday, Dec. 30, 2000, at South Georgia Medical Center after a sudden illness.

He was born on Nov. 22, 1939, in Fulton County, a son of James T. and Harrett McCamant Pollitt.

Survivors include his wife, Ann Pollitt of Hahira; one son, Travis (and Kim) Pollitt of Athens; three stepdaughters, Sherry (and Greg) Alexander and Jennifer (and Michael) Weldon, of Hahira, and Camille Peters of St. Augustine, Fla.; one stepson, Clyde Peters of Illinois; two grandchildren; four stepgrandchildren; and one brother, Jim (and Judy) Pollitt of Ipava.

He was preceded in death by one sister.

He was employed with Trus Joist and was formerly employed with Amax Coal Company.

He was a member of the Wesley Chapel Methodist Church in Berlin and was a mason.

Services were held Jan. 2 at his church with Rev. Dewey Stalvey officiating. Burial was in Wesley Chapel Cemetery. Martin McLane Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
