Merle Paisley, 75, of Rushville died at 11:53 a.m. Friday, March 3, 2000, at Culbertson Memorial Hospital.

He was born Sept. 21, 1924, in Woodstock Township, Schuyler County, the son of Everett W. and Janey Downs Paisley. He married Geraldine A. Butcher on Nov. 18, 1946, in Holton, Kan. She died Dec. 1, 1985. He married Mary Tomlinson Vogler on Jan. 31, 1987, in Round Rock, Texas. She survives.

Also surviving are one daughter, Vickey (and Dennis) Harrison of Rushville; one son, Michael of Rushville; and three grandchildren.

Two sisters preceded him in death.

A World War II Navy veteran, he was a member of Macomb American Legion Post 6.

He worked for Strong Equipment Co. He also operated Paisley Music Service, Redshaw Truck Service/Mid-West Order Buyers, Olin Fertilizer & Chemical. He was a farmer and school bus driver and had worked for the Illinois Dept. of Transportation. He also owned and operated M&M Vending in Macomb and Rushville.

He was a member and elder of First Presbyterian Church in Rushville.

He also was a member of the National Automatic Merchandisers Association, the American Music Operators Association and the Illinois Coin Operators Association.

He served as Schuyler County Republican chairman for several years.

Services were held Tuesday at his church with Rev. Alice Davenport officiating. Burial was in Palm Cemetery west of Rush-ville, where military rites were accorded by Schuyler American Legion Post 4. Worthington Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Memorials may be made to his church or to St. Jude Children's Hospital.
