Susana “Susie” Plate, 87, of Astoria, died at 7:30 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 21, 1996, at the Astoria Health Care Center in Astoria.
She was born Oct. 30, 1908, in Hanover, a daughter of Frederick and Katharina Kopfmann. She married Frank Plate Feb. 25, 1928, in Mitchell, S.D. He died Jan. 29, 1980. Also preceding her in death were one grandson, three brothers, and two sisters.
Surviving are one son, Vern “Sonny” Plate of Peoria Heights; three grandsons, Allen of Benson, Collin of St. Augustine, Fla., Aaron of Peoria Heights; seven great-grandchildren; and one sister, Kate Baldwin of Mitchell, S.D.
She was a member of the Astoria Church of the Brethren. She and her husband farmed and she also worked at the Nu-Way Laundry in Havana and Gain Florists in Astoria, retiring in 1980.
Private graveside services will be held this afternoon at the Ipava Cemetery in Ipava.
Memorials may be given to the Astoria Health Care Center.
