Harold Price Dies Of Gunshot Wound

Harold M. Price, 71, of rural Bath, formerly from the Astoria and Browning areas, died at his home about 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 11, 1980, when he reportedly shot his wife, wounding her, and then turned the gun on himself. He was pronounced dead at the scene. His wife, though injured, was able to telephone for help. She was first taken to Mason District Hospital in Havana and then transferred to a Springfield hospital. She reportedly is recovering. There were no witnesses.

Mr. Price was born Jan. 23, 1909, in Astoria, the son of A. N. and Cassie Danner Price. He married Irene Louder on Sept. 28, 1933. She preceded him in death on April 27, 1979. He then married Zelda (Billingsley) Goode on Aug. 4, 1979.

Surviving in addition to his wife is a step-sister, Mrs. Joan Stanley of Astoria.

Mr. Price was a member of Astoria Masonic Lodge No. 100 AF&AM and was a retired farmer.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Friday afternoon at Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria with Rev. Gary Bass officiating. Burial was in Astoria Cemetery.
