ROY LEE PARRY SR.

Roy L. Parry Killed Wednesday

Roy Lee Parry, 48, lifetime Astoria area resident, was killed sometime last Wednesday afternoon in a logging accident on the Berger farm about one-half mile off Route 100 four miles south of Beardstown.

Mr. Parry was operating a crawler tractor with a fork lift, loading logs on a truck when one of the logs apparently rolled off, crushing him.

He was found about 7 p.m. by Gary Mason and Reggie Fischer, who were driving by. The two became curious and investigated when they saw the tractor stopped with the lift still up and a log on it. They notified authorities. Deputies Les Day and Bob Thompson and Coroner Richard Pugh investigated the accident.

Mr. Parry was born near Browning on Oct. 9, 1921, a son of Jesse and Ada Danner Parry. He was married to Beatrice Davis on Jan. 31, 1941, who survives.

Other survivors include his parents of Astoria; seven children, Mrs. Ruth Mathis of Farmington, Miss Sunday Parry, Mrs. Sara Geary and Samuel Parry, all of Hacienda Heights, Calif., Roy Lee Parry, Jr. of Cherry Point, N.C., Steven Parry of of Ft. George Mead, Md., and Mrs. Jean Roberts of Astoria; 6 grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Frances Bushnell of Astoria. One brother preceded him in death.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday afternoon in Shawgo Memorial Home with Fred Graves officiating. Burial was in the Astoria Cemetery.
