Mrs. Mabel Plate Of Adair Dies

Mrs. Mabel M. Plate, 79, of rural Adair, died at 6:30 a.m. Thursday at Clarytona Manor Nursing Home at Lewistown where she had been a patient since April 1967.

Born in Fulton County Sept. 8, 1890, she was a daughter of Thomas and Hannah Jane Sears Furniss, and was married Sept. 28, 1910, to Verne G. Plate who died in February, 1935.

She was a member of Pennington Point Methodist Church where she taught Sunday School for many years, and a member of the Women of the Moose.

Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Wayne (Valera) Morrow and Mrs. M. B. (Iola) Landes, both of Macomb, and Mrs. Glen (Verna) Morrow of Galesburg; one son, William T. Plate of Monroe, Wis.; three sisters, Mrs. Minnie Montgomery, with whom she had made her home at the Adair address for many years, Mrs. Ethel Batterton of Astoria and Mrs. Sadie Hamm of Lewistown; three brothers, Floyd Furniss of Bushnell, Ben Furniss of Juda, Wis., and Taylor Furniss of Table Grove; 11 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren. A daughter died in infancy and four brothers, one sister and one grandchild also preceded her in death.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Clugston Chapel at Macomb, the Rev. Warren Christian officiating. Burial was in Oakwood Cemetery at Macomb.
