Matthew Pierce At End Of Life

Matthew Pierce, a highly respected citizen died at his home on East Main street Sunday evening at 6:35 o’clock, following an illness of about a year. Death was due to a complication of diseases.

Mr. Pierce was born September 4, 1851, near Astoria. On March 16, he was united in marriage to Margaret Endress of near Bader. To this union one child was born, Mrs. Margaret Taylor, who survives to mourn his death. Mrs. Pierce passed to the Beyond, October 15, 1910.

Mr. Pierce resided for four years near Bader, from which place he moved to the vicinity of Bushnell, where he resided for thirty years. He was engaged in farming up until 1914, when he moved to Astoria, where he has since resided.

Funeral services were held at 10 o’clock this forenoon at the Church of the Brethern, Astoria, conducted by Rev. Chas. Walters and assisted by Rev. Abe Lind. Interment in the South Fulton cemetery.
