ANNA MARGARET CAROLINA (ENDRES) PIERCE

Mrs. Anna Pierce Dead.

Anna Margaret Carolina Enders, wife of Matthew Pierce, was born in Aldorf, Germany, Feb. 6, 1845; coming to America in 1856 and settling in Baltimore, where the family remained two years. From Baltimore they removed to Astoria, Ill., in 1858. Here their residence remained until 1878, when they removed to Walnut Grove. In 1895 they moved to Adair, Illinois, where they have lived until the present. Mrs. Pierce departed to her long home on Oct. 15, 1910.

Anna Enders and Matthew Pierce were united in marriage, March 16, 1873. By this union one child was given to them, who was with them at the time of her mother’s death.

Mrs. Pierce’s family of brother and sisters consisted of five boys and two girls, of whom two brothers alone survive; one residing in Wichita, Kans., and one near Bushnell.

Her religious connection was with the Christian church, with which she united at the age of twenty-four.

She was aged sixty-five years, eight months and nine days at the time of her death. Her going was with faith and hope; in much pain of body, but free in the spirit, — triumphant in the Lord Jesus Christ.

Funeral services were held Monday at the New Salem Christian church, Adair, conducted by Rev. Chas. J. Adams; also at the South Dunkard church, conducted by Rev. A. H. Lind. Burial took place at the cemetery near by.

We regret the need that has taken from our midst a noble christian woman, a loyal wife and a loving mother; but praise God that peace was hers to the last hour of her life.

[Laura's note: I believe her maiden name was actually spelled "Endres".]
