Virgil Osborne, 82, of Havana died at 5:50 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 5, 2003, at his home.

He was born Aug. 18, 1920, in Bluff City, a son of Squire and Faye Parker Osborne. He married Shirley Freeman on March 1, 1947, in Jacksonville. She survives.

Also surviving are one daughter, Angela (and Barth) Burgard of Havana; one brother, Jerry of Astoria; and three sisters, Maxine Kerr of Reno, Nev., Mary Koch of Bloomington and Nancy Butler of Havana.

He was preceded in death by one brother.

He was a World War II Navy veteran.

A member of Cement Finisher Local 12 in Peoria for more than 50 years, he was a cement finisher in construction.

He was a member of Havana Masonic Lodge 88, AF&AM.

Services were held Friday at Hurley Funeral Home with Rev. L. Arvil Bass officiating. Burial was in Laurel Hill Cemetery, where military rites were conducted by American Legion Post 138 and Havana Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6408.

Memorials may be made to Mason District Hospital emergency room, American Cancer Society or Mason District Hospital Home Health.
