Wayne L. O’Hern, 79, died Wednesday, Jan. 17, 1996, in Tucson, Ariz. Interment will be April 12, 1996, in the Post Cemetery, West Point, N.Y.

He is survived by his wife, Carrie H. (Hopkins) O’Hern; two sons, Wayne O’Hern Jr. of Arlington, Va. and David O’Hern of Tucson; and one daughter, Kathie Hefner of Charlotte, N.C.; two sisters, Winnie Pryor of Tulsa, Okla. and Flossie Gallup of Stratford, Okla.; and five brothers, Ray O’Hern of Bixby, Okla., Roy O’Hern of Caddo, Okla.; Charlie O’Hern of Hennessey, Okla., Clyde O’Hern of Phoenix, Ariz., and Stanford O’Hern of Vermont, Ill.

Mr. O’Hern graduated from West Point and was commissioned in the Army Signal Corps and served in WWII in Patton’s 3rd Army and participated in the Battle of the Bulge. He transferred to the U.S. Air Force upon its formation in 1947 and had duty assignments with SAC, AMC, and MAC. During his 22-year military career he attained the rank of Colonel and was awarded the Bronze Star, two citation ribbons and a citation medal. He was enjoying his retirement in Tucson, Ariz., at the time of his death.
