Stanford "Bud" O'Hern Sr., 74, of Vermont died at 1:25 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 31, 2000, at his residence.

He was born Aug. 25, 1926, near Lovell, Okla., a son of Patrick S. and Jane Duncan O'Hern, he married Rita Marie Mirkes on Oct. 9, 1948, in Hennessey, Okla. She survives.

Also surviving are four daughters, Cathy Crain of Macomb, Rose Marie (and Steve) of Bardolph, Cindy (and James) Cassidy of Table Grove and Maryann O'Hern of Seaside, Calif.; two sons, Stan Jr. of Hennessey, Okla., and Larry (and Kelley) of Vermont; 17 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two brothers, Charlie of Hennessey, Okla., and Clyde of Phoenix; and two sisters, Flossie Gallup of Stratford, Okla., and Winifred Pryor of Tulsa, Okla.

A member of American Legion Post 26, he was an Army veteran.

He was a farmer and cattleman in the Vermont area.

He was honored as Outstanding Conservation Farmer for McDonough County in 1985.

He was a member of the Tri-County Cattleman Association, Illinois Beef Association, National Cattleman's Association and Illinois Pork Producers.

He was a member of the Catholic church.

Services were held today at 10 a.m. at St. Paul Catholic Church in Macomb with Revs. Richard Pricco and David Kurt officiating. Burial will be in Vermont Cemetery, where military rites will be accorded by his American Legion post. Dodsworth-Piper-Wallen Funeral Home in Macomb was in charge of arrangements.

Memorials may be made to McDonough District Hospital Hospice in Macomb, Loaves and Fishes Food Pantry in Macomb, Vermont Illinois Rescue Squad, St. Paul Catholic Church in Macomb or any charity.
