Geraldine L. “Jeri” Nelson, 78, of Canton, died at 8:35 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 17, 1995, at her residence.
She was born Dec. 11, 1916, in Garden Grove, Iowa, a daughter of Thomas E. and Elizabeth A. Neprash Crago. She married Lennart G. Nelson on April 3, 1942, in Burlington, Iowa. He survives.
Also surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Gary (Jacqueline “Jackie”) Green of Table Grove; two grandchildren; and three sisters, Jeannett Hertlein of Metamora and Helen L. Good and Irma M. Burgus, both of Burlington, Iowa.
An employee of Mid-Century Telephone co-op for 13 years, she retired as chief billing clerk in 1979. She was a member of First Presbyterian Chruch, where she was a former Sunday school teacher, elder and deaconess.
Memorials services were held Sunday at Oaks-Hines Funeral Home in Canton with Rev. Sam Vanderjagt officiating. Cremation has been accorded. Graveside services and burial of ashes were held Monday at Greenwood Cemetery in Canton.
Memorials may be made to her church, Illinois Nature Conservatory, Spoon River Hospice of Graham Hospital or any charity.
