He was born July 21, 1951, in Beardstown, a son of Guy and Ermond Wheelhouse McConahay. They preceded him in death along with one infant brother, Donald McConahay. He married Rita Grimmer on May 19, 1972, in Rushville. She survives.
Also surviving are four children, Arnold DeVore of Beardstown, Ann Cook of Cleveland, Okla., Kirsten Gustovich of Cutler, Ohio, and Ashley Taff of Grove, Okla.; one brother, Randy McConahay of Chicago; 13 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
He started his working career as a farmer working for Dean Farms, Thompson Farms and also himself. He later worked for the U.S. Postal Service as an independent mail contract truck driver from where he retired.
He was a member of the VFW.
Cremation rites have been accorded through Oaks-Hines Funeral Home and Crematory in Canton. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
