Nina J. Hendricks Merrill, 91, of Astoria died at 4:45 a.m. Oct. 14, 2023, at her home.Nina J. Hendricks Merrill, 91, of Astoria died at 4:45 a.m. Oct. 14, 2023, at her home.
She was born Dec. 2, 1931, in rural Rushville, a daughter of Thomas and Venia Chute Hendricks. She married Roy Lee Merrill on Sept. 20, 1947, in Quincy. He preceded her in death on Aug. 13, 2007.
She also was preceded in death by two sons, Kevin and Thomas Merrill; one great-grandson, Caleb Weaver; and 12 siblings.
Surviving are two daughters, Norma (and John) Onion and Cindy (and Danny) Weaver, both of Astoria; seven grandchildren, Bobbie (and Neal) Wright, Sean Weaver, Trevor (and Brittany Batterton) Weaver, Stephanie (and Andres) Hernandez, Bryan (and Randa) Onion, Jason (and Alison) Merrill and Travis (and Katie) Merrill; 15 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren.
She enjoyed sewing, mowing the lawn and restoring antique furniture.
A private family service will be held.
