James McGaugheyJames Ivan McGaughey, 76, of Vermont died at 4:02 a.m. March 6, 2017, at Culbertson Memorial Hospital in Rushville.

He was born Dec. 30, 1940, in Macomb, the son of Bernard and Evelyn Runkle McGaughey. He married Harriett Agans on Oct. 7, 1973, in Vermont. She preceded him in death on June 7, 2012.

He also was preceded in death by one nephew, Brad Brookhart.

Surviving are one son, Allen (and Tracey) McGaughey of Colchester; one daughter, Diane Riles of Macomb; two sisters, Sharon Kenney of Calabasas, Calif., and Margi (and Walt) Schmick of Littleton, Colo.; one grandchild; and two great-grandchildren.

He graduated from Industry High School in 1959. He was an over-the-road truck driver, was a former police officer with the Vermont Police Department and was employed by the Vermont Water Department. He owned and operated McGaughey Electronics in Vermont. He was a Ham Radio Operator for 60 years.

He was a member of Doddsville Methodist Church, Vermont Masonic Lodge #116, A.F. and A.M., Quincy Consistory A.A.S.R. and Vermont Antique Tractor Club.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Worthington Funeral Home in Rushville with Mr. David Haney officiating. Burial will follow in Vermont Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home followed by Masonic services.

Memorials may be made to his church or Vermont Masonic Lodge #116, A.F. and A.M.
