Gerald McCormickGerald D. “Mac” McCormick, 100, formerly of Canton and Lewistown, died at 6 a.m. June 15, 2016, at the Elms Nursing Home in Macomb.

He was born April 9, 1916, in Astoria Township, a son of Glenn and Alice Zettle McCormick. He married Ella Bernice Allen on June 3, 1942, in Sault Saint Marie, Mich. She preceded him in death on Aug. 16, 2006.

He also was preceded in death by five brothers and one sister.

Surviving are one son, Larry (and Roberta) McCormick of rural Lewistown; two grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

He was a World War II Army veteran serving from 1941-45. He retired in 1981 after 36 years as an auto mechanic, working at Bader Motor Company, Art and Gene’s Chevrolet and Gene Wrestler Chevrolet.

He was a member of the Orlando Crowthers and American Legion Post 16 in Canton.

Services were held Monday at Henry-Lange Memorial Home in Lewistown with Pastor Doug Krukewitt officiating. Burial was in Oak Hill Cemetery with military rites accorded by Lewistown VFW Post 5001 and American Legion Bishop Post 1.
