Alberta MooreAlberta S. Moore, 90, of Rushville died at 10:48 a.m. Jan. 18, 2014, at Culbertson Memorial Hospital in Rushville.

She was born June 11, 1923, in Schuyler County, a daughter of Everett and Fairy Mae Meyer Hillyer. She first married Ivan Vincent on July 20, 1941, in Palmyra, Mo. He passed away on Oct. 25, 1944, while serving with the U.S. Navy, during World War II. She later married Bob Moore on Sept. 25, 1946, in Rushville. He preceded her in death on March 25, 1992.

She also was preceded in death by one granddaughter, Terri Schneider; two sisters, Erma Jean Hillyer and Delores Mahnken; and two brothers, Leon Hillyer and Alvin Hillyer.

Surviving are five children: Larry (and Retha) Vincent and Terry Moore, both of Jacksonville, Danny Moore and Cheryl (and Jim) Wheelhouse, both of Rushville and Marilyn (and Gary) Kimbro of Browning; one brother, James (and Marge) Hillyer of Springfield; two sisters, Estella Grace Kerr of Meredosia and Nureta Hester of Rushville; 15 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

After Ivan’s death, Alberta worked for the war effort at a naval base in California. She returned to Rushville, where she was a homemaker. She also worked at Mickelberry’s in Rushville, operated the Coffee Shop, just off the Rushville square and was an aide with special education students at Littleton Grade School. She later owned and operated Moore’s Upholstery in Rushville, retiring in 1992.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Wood Funeral Home in Rushville with Pat Clements officiating. Burial will follow in Rushville City Cemetery.
