Flossie MorrisFlossie "Granny" E. Yancey Morris died Sept. 13, 2012, at her home.

She was born Sept. 27, 1935, in Sullivan, the daughter of John and Julia Locke Yancey. She married Franklin Fair in Beardstown. He preceded her in death in 1959. She then married Paul L. Morris on Oct. 15, 1960, in Beardstown. He survives.

Also surviving are five children, Jan (and Tony) Williams of Jacksonville, Rick (and Cara) Morris of Virginia, Roger Morris of Stonefort, Ruth (and Steve) Hurt of Mackinaw and Paul Leon (and Misty) Morris of Rushville; 10 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by three brothers, John "Bud" Yancey Jr., Charlie Yancey and Walter Leon Yancey.

She was owner of the Christian bookstore, Granny's Love 'N Stuff, in Rushville.

She took care of 13 foster children and foreign students from Western Illinois University who found a second home at the Morris farm.

She earned her bachelor of science degree in education in 1971 from Western Illinois University and her masters in science in education administration in 1978. She taught school in Astoria, Timewell, Beardstown and Rushville.

She was a member of Astoria Christian Church.

Services were held Saturday at Worthington Funeral Home in Rushville with pastors Gary Sheets and Brandon Llewellyn officiating. Burial was in Rushville City Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers the family wants to honor Granny's request to have children's shoes sent or brought to the funeral home to be donated to children in need.
