Billy Gene "Bill" "Billy Mac" McMillen, 81, of Vermont died at 11:20 p.m. June 23, 2011, at Astoria Gardens and Rehab Center in Astoria.

He was born July 11, 1929, in Canton, a son of Harry and Ida Stambaugh McMillen. He married Marie R. Lundahl on July 30, 1949, in Quincy. She survives.

Also surviving are one son, Gilbert McMillen of Vermont; one daughter, Myra (and Joe) Bruketta of Table Grove; one brother, Norman (and Ruth) McMillen of Rushville; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by one brother, Robert McMillen.

He served as a mechanic in the United States Air Force during World War II, stationed in Roswell, N.M., and McAllen, Texas.

He was a grain and livestock farmer all of his life. He also worked at Clayton Mark Foundry in Vermont, International Harvester in Canton and retired from Amax Coal in 1987.

He attended Vermont United Methodist Church, and was a member of Vermont Lodge #116 AF and AM.

Masonic services were held Monday with funeral services following at Wood Funeral Home in Rushville with Tim Gilliland officiating. Burial was in Harris Cemetery in Table Grove.

Memorials may be made to Graham Hospice or Shriner's Hospital for Crippled Children.
