Robert D. Malott, 82, of Lewistown died at 12:30 p.m. May 18, 2009, at his home.

He was born May 9, 1927, in Astoria, a son of Ralph Newton and Florine Grace Shields Malott. He married Maralee Vaughn in 1956. She died Feb. 18, 1980.

He also was preceded in death by three brothers, Willis, Leroy and Ralph Malott.

Surviving are two brothers, Bernard (and Stella) Malott of Elmwood and Gaylon (and Brianna) Malott of Marquette Heights; two sisters, Nelda (and Jim) Fell of Vermont and Melba (and Joe) Harris of Channahon; and many nieces and nephews.

He served in the U.S. Army as a Tech 5 Medical Detachment of the 556th Quartermaster Battalion from August, 1945 until December, 1946.

He was a machine operator for International Harvester in Canton for over 30 years, retiring in 1977.

He was a lifetime member of National Rifleman Association and VFW #5001 of Lewistown.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria with Clifton Hart officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the memorial home. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery in Lewistown at 1:30 p.m., with military rites to be accorded.

Memorials may be made to donor’s choice.
