Jonquil Marvel

Jonquil J. “Jo” Marvel, 83, of Peoria died at 4:29 p.m. Oct. 5, 2008, at Lutheran Hillside Village in Peoria.

She was born Oct. 18, 1924, in Pleasant Township, Fulton County, the daughter of George and Maude Robinson Plate. She married Horace Daniel Marvel on Nov. 14, 1948, in Astoria. He died July 4, 2004.

She also was preceded in death by one infant son, Gregory Lewis Marvel; and one daughter, Michelle Little.

Surviving are one son, Michael Marvel of Aurora; one brother, Bennie (and Marsha) Salisbury of Centralia, Mo.; and two grandsons, Earl Little of Rushville and Hank Little of Fort Campbell, Ky.

She was a school teacher in Quincy and Peoria.

She was a member of First Methodist Church of Peoria, NEA and Retired Teachers of Peoria.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria. A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Waters of Life Chapel at Lutheran Hillside Village located at 6901 N. Galena Rd., Peoria, with Rev. Beth McLaughlin officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria. Burial will be in Astoria Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to First Methodist Church of Peoria.
