Robert MustreadRobert Mustread, 77, of Smithfield died at 4:57 p.m. June 17, 2008, at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria.

He was born Oct. 15, 1930, in Lewistown, a son of William Raymond and Merle Seward Mustread. He married Donna Swango on Sept. 13, 1952, in Canton. She survives.

Also surviving are two sons, Bill Mustread of Smithfield and Bruce (and Jackie) Mustread of Pontiac; one daughter, Debra (and Robert) Martindale of Smithfield; one brother, Floyd (and Shelly) Mustread of San Jose; one sister, Donna Payton of Canton; nine grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one son, Mark; one grandson, Robby; and one brother, Charles.

He served in the Air Force from 1950-1953 during the Korean Conflict.

He retired from Canton Works of International Harvester in 1983.

He was a member of Brock United Methodist Church in Smithfield, where he had served as a trustee and taught Sunday school.

He was a former Smithfield village president, Cuba School board member, coached Little League and was a Boy Scout troop leader.

He also was a National Wild Turkey Federation committeeman, NRA member, Cuba Booster Club member and a volunteer at Red Brick School in Smithfield.

Services were held Saturday at Henry-Lange Memorial Home in Cuba with Rev. Ernest Beithaupt officiating. Burial was in Baughman Cemetery with military rites conducted by Cuba American Legion Russell Smith Post 533.
