Archie Morgan

Archie Morgan, 79, of Astoria, formerly of Springfield died Wednesday, Aug. 20, 2003, at McDonough District Hospital in Macomb.

He was born Oct. 1, 1923, in Madisonville, Ky., a son of Lioness and Julia Haskins Morgan. He married Mary Kemper on May 12, 1951 in Rantoul. She survives.

Also surviving are one son, John (and Sandy) Morgan Bybee of Vermont; two daughters, Janice (and Ron) Jackson and Deborah (and Donn) Malwick, both of Springfield; two stepdaughters, Linda Rhodes and Brenda Ferry, both of Springfield; one brother, Henry (and Mary) Moss of Springfield; 11 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

He was an Army Air Force veteran of WWII.

He was the owner/operator of three local shrimp house restaurants in Tampa, Fla., retiring in 1985.

Graveside services were held Monday at Roselawn Memorial Park where Interveterans Burial Detail conducted military services. Vancil Memorial Funeral Chapel in Springfield was in charge of arrangements.
