Ruth Marshall

Ruth MarshallRuth Marshall, 95, of Macomb, formerly of Ipava, died at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, May 9, 2002, at Heartland Health Care Center in Macomb.

She was born Sept. 23, 1906, in Pleasant Township, Fulton County, a daughter of Jesse T. and Ella Clanin Graham. She married Dean F. Marshall on Jan. 22, 1929, in Rock Island. He died July 14, 1984.

She also was preceded in death by two sisters, one brother and one great-grandson.

Surviving are one son, Leland (and Norma) of Palm Desert, Calif.; one daughter, Ruth (and Lee) Hare of Macomb; four granddaughters; 12 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson.

She taught in several one-room schools and the primary grades in Ipava. She attended Western Illinois State Teachers College. She and her husband farmed and raised black angus cattle in the Ipava area before retiring.

She was a 50-year member of Ipava Order of Eastern Star Lodge 226.
She was a member of Ipava United Presbyterian Church, where she served as a deacon and was a member of the Katherine Class Quilters.

Services were held Monday at her church with Rev. William Brown officiating. Burial was in Ipava Cemetery. Shawgo Memorial Home in Ipava was in charge of arrangements.

Memorials may be made to Everly House in Macomb, McDonough District Hospital Hospice or her church.
