Norma Marshall

Norma MarshallNorma Marshall of Palm Desert, Calif., died April 12, 2018, at her home.

She was born April 10, 1929, in Clayton, a daughter of Wallace and Edna Marsh Power. She married Lee Marshall in 1953. He survives.

Also surviving are one brother, Glen Power of Ft. Pierce, Fla.; two nephews, Steven Simpson of Alpine, Calif., and Guy Power of Jupiter, Fla.; two nieces, Cynthia Roe of Dallas, Texas, and Janet Horvath of Ft. Pierce, Fla.; and six grand-nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by one sister, Jane Simpson.

After graduating from Clayton High School, she attended Western Illinois University, graduating in 1951.

In 1957, Norma and Lee moved to California, where she taught school in Glendale at Mark Kepple for 25 years in the same room. Many of her students were second generation. In 1986, she retired and they moved to Palm Desert.

She was an active member of PEO and Coachella Valley Pan Hellenic.

Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the Ipava Cemetery. Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria is in charge of arrangements.
