E. VERLE (SLAIGHT) MASTEN

Verle Masten

E. Verle Masten, 83, of Havana died at 2:10 p.m. on May 24, 2001, at her daughter's home in Morton.

She was born Oct. 8, 1917, in Fulton County, a daughter of John and Nettie Curless Slaight. She married Raymond W. Masten on Oct. 8, 1940, in Havana. He died Sept. 4, 1993.

Surviving are three daughters, Eleanor (and Don) Cordell of Morton, Evelyn (and Richard) Roskamp of Forest City and Mary Jane (and John) Friedrich of Macomb; one son, Ramond J. Masten of Lompoc, Calif.; 13 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and one sister, Dortha Oest of Astoria.

She was active at First Baptist Church in Havana.

She was a member of Home Extension of Havana and a charter member of Prairieland Heritage Museum of Jacksonville.

She was a homemaker.

Services were held at First Baptist Church. Burial was in Laurel Hill Cemetery.
