Russell Mayall

Russell W. Mayall, 96, of Canton, died at 9:56 a.m. Friday, Dec. 17, 1999, at his residence.

He was born May 10, 1903, in Pleasant Township, a son of Wilbur and Jennie Gouker Mayall. He married Sue Morse on Nov. 10, 1956, in Palmyra, Mo. She died Sept. 16, 1988.

One son, Chadwick, one grandson, one brother and eight sisters also preceded him in death.

Surviving are one daughter, Marla Mayall of Springfield; one sister, Gladys Heflin of Bushnell; one granddaughter; and three great-grandchildren.

He owned and operated a grocery store in Summum several years ago. He later was a meat cutter at A&P, retiring in 1988.

He was a member of the Amalgamated Meat Cutters Union.

He also was a member of Summum Christian Church and Vermont Masonic Lodge.

Services were held Tuesday at Murphy-Sedgwick Memorial Home. Burial was in Apple Cemetery in rural Lewistown.

Memorials may be made to the Masonic Home in Sullivan.
