RUSSELL CHADWICK “CHAD” MAYALL

R. Chad Mayall, 66, of Canton, died at 8:42 p.m. Sunday, July 30, 1995, at Graham Hospital emergency room.

He was born June 17, 1929, in Canton, the son of Russell W. and Ora Foutch Mayall. He married Joyce Kerr Schleigh on Nov. 28, 1987, in Canton. She survives.

Also surviving are his father, one son, Chris Mayall, one daughter, Heather Mayall, one stepson, Kevin Schleigh, and one stepdaughter, Kathy Stockov, all of Canton; one half sister, Marla Mayall of Springfield; five grandchildren; and one great-grandson.

One son, Dennis Mayall, preceded him in death.

A Korean War Army veteran, he was a member and former commander of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1984. He was a member of American Legion Post 16 and Moose Lodge 784. He retired in 1992 from Illinois Power Co. after 37 years. He later worked at Easley Mechanical. He was a member of International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 1306. He was a member of Havana Masonic Lodge 88, AF&AM, for 35 years. He was a life member of Optimist International, serving as past lieutenant and as past president. He was a former coach and referee at Havana area schools. He was a member of the American Association of Retired Persons. He attended South Park United Methodist Church.

Funeral services were held this morning at Murphy-Sedgwick Memorial Home with Rev. Jim Jenkins officiating. Masonic rites were held. Burial was in White Chapel Memory Gardens, where military rites were accorded by the VFW and American Legion.
