Myrtle F. Merritt, 96, of DeSoto, Texas, formerly of Astoria, died at 12:19 a.m. Friday, Sept. 5, 1997, at Charlton Methodist Hospital in Dallas, Texas.
She was born July 12, 1901, in Astoria, a daughter of Louis B. and Carrie L. Warren Stambaugh. She married Harold M. Schuman. He preceded her in death. She later married Clarence Merritt. He also preceded her in death, as did three sisters and two brothers.
Surviving are one son, Gerald K. Schuman of Whitney, Texas; two granddaughters; and five great-grandchildren.
Graveside services were held Tuesday at Bader Cemetery in Browning with Collis Trone officiating. Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria was in charge of arrangements.
