Mabel Markley Dies Feb. 29

Mabel M. Markley, 86, of Vermont, died at 1:37 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 29, 1992, at McDonough District Hospital in Macomb.

She was born May 12, 1905, in Ipava, a daughter of Edward and Alma Huff Long. She married Roy K. Markley on Feb. 26, 1925, in Lewistown. He survives.

Also surviving are one daughter, Betty Roeder, and one son, Donald, both of Peoria; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by one sister, one brother and one grandson.

She and her husband owned and operated the former Markley’s Grocery Store in Vermont before retiring. She was a member of Vermont Christian Church.

Funeral services were held Tuesday at Kost Memorial Home in Vermont with Rev. Clint Palmer officiating. Burial was at Ipava Cemetery in Ipava.

Memorials may be made to the Vermont Rescue Squad.
