Mrs. Edith Maxwell Dies Friday Morning

Mrs. Edith C. Maxwell, 87, a resident of Astoria most of her life, died at 4:10 Friday morning in the Astoria Care Center. She had been ill 3 months.

Born Oct. 3, 1883 in Augusta, the daughter of James and Arthursa Anderson Wright, she was married to Charles A. Maxwell in 1904. He died June 11, 1960.

Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Vera Whalen of Macomb, Mrs. Ann VanOrman of Philadelphia, Pa., Mrs. Jane McCullough of Annaheim, Calif.; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and three sisters, Mrs. Florence Sandidge of Beardstown, Mrs. Nettie Stewart of Morris, and Mrs. Helen Hohn of Flint, Mich. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by one daughter, two brothers and two sisters.

Funeral servics were held at 2 p.m. Sunday in the Shawgo Memorial Home with Rev. James Elder officiating.

Entombment was in Astoria Memorial Mausoleum.
