Charles Maxwell Dies After Long Illness

Funeral services for Charles A. Maxwell, 77, were conducted Tuesday afternoon in the Shawgo Memorial Home by the Rev. J. E. Sibert and the Rev. J. H. Ruburg. Mr. Maxwell died Saturday evening in his home on East Main Street following a lengthy illness.

A son of Samuel and Sarah Bricker Maxwell, he was born Sept. 27, 1883, near Astoria. He was married to Edith Wright in 1904 in Astoria. She survives in addition to three daughters, Mrs. Vera Whalen of Long Beach, Calif., Mrs. Ann Orman of Philadelphia, Pa., and Mrs. Jane McCullough of Anaheim, Calif.

Also surviving are six grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, two sisters, Miss Minnie Maxwell of Astoria and Mrs. Ella Snowden of Canton; two brothers, Bert Maxwell of Sturgis, Mich., and Jake Maxwell of Astoria. A daughter, Mrs. Verna Fowler, three brothers and a sister preceded him in death.

Mr. Maxwell was a member of the E. U. B. church. Burial was in the Astoria Memorial Mausoleum.
