M. J. McClelland Dies In Operation

Myron J. McClelland, a prominent young farmer, of Astoria township, died Monday at one o’clock p.m., at Rochester, Minn., at the Mayo Bros., hospital following an operation for ulcers of the stomach.

The young man went to Rochester a week ago Sunday accompanied by his half-sister, Mrs. Laura Mummert.

The operation was performed Monday and before recovering from the effects of the anesthetic, he passed away.

The body arrived here Tuesday noon and was taken to the family home south of the city limits.

Mr. McClelland has been in poor health for the past year. He was unmarried and was aged 37 years, 10 months and 28 days.

Besides his stepmother, Mrs. Elvira McClelland, he leaves one brother, Carl and one half-brother Bert McClelland of Cuba and three half-sisters, Mrs. Laura Mummert, Mrs. James Carter of Astoria and Mrs. Albert Bubb of Peoria and a number of other relatives.

Funeral services will be held at the family residence, Thursday afternoon at 2 o’clock conducted by Rev. L. A. Crown. Burial in the Astoria cemetery.
