HATTIE (LEININGER) MERRILL

Mrs. Benj. Merrill Victim of Pneumonia

Mrs. Benj. Merrill died at her home one and one-half miles northeast of Astoria at 2:00 o’clock Monday afternoon following a brief illness of pneumonia.

Mrs. Merrill was a devoted wife and mother and was held in the highest esteem by all who knew her. There is profound sorrow today because of her death, and sincere and heartfelt sympathy is extended by the entire public to the sorely stricken members of the surviving family.

Hattie Leininger was born May 21, 1876. She was united in marriage to Benj. R. Merrill on December 24, 1891 and to them were born thirteen children, ten daughters and three sons, all of whom survive, namely: Corda, Clara, Julia, Helen, Ruth, Belle, Charlotte, Lucile, Margaret, Catherine, Wendell, Charles and Joseph. Besides the husband and children she leaves to mourn her death, her father, Frank Leininger, and mother, Mrs. Charles Greenwell, of Industry, and one brother, John Leininger, of Industry.

Funeral services were held at the home at 2:30 p.m. today, conducted by Rev. S. S. Blough. Interment in Astoria cemetery.
