John LawsonJohn E. Lawson, 53, of Canton, formerly of Astoria, died at 12:58 a.m. Aug. 2, 2018, at home.

He was born Oct. 9, 1964, in Canton, a son of John and Lola Remmers Lawson. He married Carol Shaughnessy on Sept. 30, 2013, in Lewistown. She survives.

Also surviving are three sons, Keith Lawson of Astoria, Aaron (and Ella) Lawson of Vermont and Zachary (and Amy) Lawson of Canton; one stepdaughter, Nicole (and Terry) Beatty of Peoria; two stepsons, Jonathan (and Shyla) Beatty of Bushnell and Kyle (and Nicole) Shaughnessy of Decatur; father, John (and Tammy) Lawson of Elko, Nev.; mother, Lola Lawson of Astoria; three sisters, Kathy (and Dennis) Anderson of Madisonvillle, Tenn., Felicia (and Todd) Duncan of Astoria and Amber (and Ken) Lawson of Norwood; and seven grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents; and one brother, Aaron Lawson.

He worked at Keystone Steel and Wire for 22 years.

He was in the U.S. Navy, where he was a boiler tender.

He was a member of Astoria American Legion Post #25 and the Union.

Services were held Monday at Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria with Pastor Darrin Fish officiating. Burial was in Astoria Cemetery.
