Eva Little

Eva LittleEva G. Little, 97, of Rushville died at 4:49 a.m. Aug. 11, 2014, at Heritage Health, Therapy and Senior Care in Mount Sterling.

She was born Sept. 6, 1916, in Brooklyn Township, Schuyler County, a daughter of John and Margaret Elsie (VanWinkle) Greenleaf. She married James A. Little on Aug. 16, 1935, in Rushville. He preceded her in death on Aug. 22, 1981.

She also was preceded in death by one granddaughter, Sarah Ann Little; one great-grandson, Jacob Alexander Dupoy; two brothers, Glen “Bud” Greenleaf and Marion Peter Greanleaf; and three sisters, Elva Greenleaf, Nova Cooney and Grace Poston.

Surviving are three sons, James W. (and Sue) Little of Peoria, John N. (and Sonya) Little of Mount Sterling and Jay E. (and Teresa) Little of Frederick; one daughter, Judy (and Charles) Dupoy of Rushville; 12 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and 14 great-great-grandchildren.

She was a homemaker and a cook at Camden School for a number of years. For many years, she was a receptionist for Roby Funeral Chapel and later Wood-Roby Funeral Chapel.

She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Rushville and Schuyler-Brown Home Extension from 1945-88. She was a 4-H leader of Camden Good Neighbors Club. She served as County 4-H Chairman in 1951.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at Wood Funeral Home in Rushville with Reverend Grant Armstrong officiating. Burial will follow in Littleton Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church in Rushville or the Activity Fund at Heritage Health, Therapy and Senior Care in Mount Sterling.
