ROBERT E. “BOB” LONG

Robert "Bob" LongRobert E. "Bob" Long, 83, of rural Adair died at 1:54 a.m. April 7, 2013, at McDonough District Hospital in Macomb.

He was born July 23, 1929, in Macomb, a son of George Ray and Lucy Barker Long. He married Barb Graves on Nov. 8, 1946, in Macomb. She survives.

Also surviving are one son, Lonnie (and Sharon) Long of Macomb; one grandchild; and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two sisters, Maxine Mullen and Dorothy Thomson; and three brothers, Junior Long, Raymond Long and George Long Sr.

He lived all of his life in the Adair area where he farmed and was owner of Long Grain Bin Company, retiring in 2003. He was a successful stock car driver winning races around the area.

He served in the Army from 1955-57.

Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Clugston-Tibbitts Funeral Home in Macomb with Reverend David Long officiating. Burial will be in Harris Cemetery west of Table Grove. There will be no visitation.

Memorials may be made to New Salem Fire and Rescue or McDonough County Humane Society.
