Howard H. LaRue, 74, of Salida, Colo., a former resident of Ipava, died at his residence on Thursday, Aug. 10, 1995.

He was born on April 10, 1921 at Ipava, a son of James and Grace Holmes LaRue. He married Clara Belle VeNard in Missouri on June 13, 1942. She survives.

Also surviving are one son, James D. LaRue II of Salida; one daughter, Frances Evans of Salida; seven grandsons; one granddaughter; one great-grandson; one brother, Robert LaRue of Lewistown; and one sister, Wilma McFadden in Arizona.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, a granddaughter, an infant brother and his parents.

He had previously lived in the Ipava, Macomb and Adair areas until 1949. He worked for the National Park Service for 23 years and retired in 1979. A World War II Army veteran, he was a member of 40 et 8, Disabled American Veterans and was a past commander of the American Legion Post in Grand Canyon, Ariz.

He was a member of First Baptist Church in Salida, where services were held Monday. Burial was in Coaldale Cemetery in Coaldale, Colo. Lewis and Glenn Funeral Home in Salida was in charge of arrangements.
