Mrs. L. C. Leonard Claimed By Death

Mrs. Iva Leonard, passed away at her home four and one-half miles southwest of Astoria, Thursday, August 12 at five o’clock in the afternoon, following a severe illness lasting about three weeks, from typhoid fever.

Iva Raridan Leonard, daughter of William and Mary Raridan was born in Enion, Ill., July 16, 1884, and therefore passed her thirty-sixth birthday last July.

April 22, 1901, she was married to Lewis Calvin Leonard. Four children were born to this union, a son, who passed to the spirit world in infancy, and three daughters, Mary Etta, Mina Emma and Ruth Elizabeth, all at home.

There also survives beside her husband, one brother, Eldon Raridan of Naperville, Ill., and three sisters, Mrs. Dell Sively of Neenah, Wis., Mrs. Howard Tanner and Mrs. Abe Leonard of Havana, Ill., four half-sisters, Mrs. George Coleman, Mrs. James Brofey, Mrs. Kate Barsy all of Havana and Mrs. Charles Cooperthwait of Bushnell, Ill., two half brothers, Wm. Raridan of Havana, Ill., and Platt Raridan of Roundup, Mont., together with a host of friends who mourn her departure.

About fifteen years ago, Mrs. Leonard was baptized and united with the Christian church in Havana. She was a loving wife, and affectionate mother and a good neighbor. The family resided in Kerton township until last October when they moved to the farm in Astoria township, where Mrs. Leonard passed away.

The funeral was held at the Hickory school house Saturday forenoon, starting from the home at 9 o’clock. The services were in charge of Rev. L. A. Crown of the Astoria Christian church. The interment was in the Hickory cemetery.
