Kay D. Kennedy, 89, of Industry died July 13, 2025.
He was born July 30, 1935, in Rochelle, the son of Dale and Luzetta Plate Kennedy. He married Shirley Ann Murfin on April 20, 1958, in Adair. She preceded him in death on April 8, 2022.
He also was preceded in death by one daughter, Kimberly A. Kennedy; one brother, Loren Kennedy; and his stepmother, Merri Pickard Kennedy.
Surviving are one daughter, Susan Kennedy of Industry; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He graduated from VIT High School in 1953 and then went on to Western Illinois University where he received his bachelor’s degree in 1957.
He started his career as an Engineer for Ken Ray in Vermont and then at Fiber Steel Astoria. While working he farmed part-time on the family farm and farmed full-time starting in 1970.
He was a life-time member of the Farm Bureau and a member of Industry United Methodist Church.
As per his wishes, there will be no services. Worthington Funeral Home in Rushville is in charge of arrangements.
Memorials may be made to the Industry Fire Department or the Schuyler Humane Society.
