James KerrJames M. “Chick” Kerr, 73, of Rushville died at 12:35 a.m. June 6, 2022, at Hannibal Regional Hospital in Hannibal, Mo.

He was born March 20, 1949, in Beardstown, a son of Charles J. and Irene Chapdelaine Kerr. He married Barbara Ellwood on Oct. 20, 1973, in Rushville. She survives.

Also surviving are one daughter, Jennifer Kerr of Nashville, Tenn.; one son, Adam (and Andrea) Kerr of Nashville, Tenn.; one brother, Thomas (and Terri) Kerr of Rushville; two sisters, Mary (and Ed) Davis and Elaine (and Todd) Boyd, both of Rushville; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by one brother, Charles Robert “Bob” Kerr.

He was a graduate of Rushville High School with the class of 1967.

He served in the U.S. Navy from November 1968 to August 1971.

He was a design and construction supervisor at Adams Electric Co-Op before retiring. He was a member of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church where he helped wherever he was needed. He served as an alderman for the City of Rushville for several years.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Rushville with Father Adam Stimpson officiating. Burial will follow in Rushville City Cemetery with Military Honors by Schuyler American Legion Post #4 and a U.S. Navy Honors Detail. Visitation will be held from 4-6 p.m. Wednesday at Worthington Funeral Home in Rushville.
