VeteranO.D. Kost

O.D. Kost, 79, of Vermont died at 12:45 a.m. Aug. 31, 2011, at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria.

He was born Jan. 27, 1932, in Vermont Township, a son of Oscar and Myrna Cassel Kost. He married Anna Stoops on Aug. 5, 1951, in Ipava. She survives.

Also surviving are one daughter, Kandy (and Ed) Hammond of Ipava.

He was preceded in death by one brother, William Kost; and one brother and sister in infancy.

He served in the Army from 1952-54.

He was a graduate of VIT High School and attended Western Illinois University.

He was a radio engineer for Sudbrink Enterprises for over 25 years and then managed the family farms.

He was an avid Ham Radio Operator and his call number was K9EWK.

Graveside services were held Friday at Vermont Cemetery with Tim Gilliland officiating. Dodsworth-Piper-Wallen Funeral Home in Macomb was in charge of arrangements.
