Herschel Dean Kelly, 85, of Ipava, died at 4:35 p.m. June 25, 2009, at his home.

He was born June 21, 1924, in Pleasant Township, a son of Frank and Mabel Graham Kelly. He married Carol Mae Keime on Oct. 28, 1956, in Smithfield. She survives.

Also surviving are two sons, John (and Sharon) Kelly of Fairview and David Kelly of Ipava; and six grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one brother, Gordon Eugene Kelly; and one grandson, Casey Dean Kelly.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army.

He was a farmer and avid livestock producer.

He was a member of Western Farm Business Farm Management Board, Fulton County Farm Bureau, Pleasant Space Makers 4-H Club leader, Fulton County Soil Conservation District, Fulton Couples Club, Primetime Club, and former member of FHA. He attended Smithfield Church of the Nazarene.

Services will be held today at 10:30 a.m. at Smithfield Church of the Nazarene with Pastor Layton Malone officiating. Burial with military rites will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery in Lewistown. Shawgo Memorial Home is in charge of arrangements.

Memorials may be made to Smithfield Church of the Nazarene Building Fund or Harbor Lights Hospice in Galesburg.
