Roberta KlokerRoberta Marie Savage Broeker Kloker, 90, of Beardstown died March 12, 2008, at Culbertson Memorial Hospital in Rushville.

She was born April 30, 1917, in Bluff Springs, a daughter of Oscar A. and Pearl McGovern Savage. She married Samuel Reller Broeker in 1946. He preceded her in death. She later married Donald Kloker on May 14, 1980. He survives.

Also surviving are one daughter, Judith Ann (and Sherman) Coultas of Astoria; three step children, Norman Kloker of Rushville, Kevin Kloker of Palatine and Marsha Kloker of Eagle, Colo.; one sister, Rozella Sipes of Beardstown; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by one son, Samuel George Broeker; and one brother, Ralph Savage.

She graduated from Beardstown High School Class of 1935, where she participated in the orchestra. Upon graduation, she worked in Chicago, then for Veterans Administration in Washington, D.C., for five years.

She served in the U.S. Army in 1942 in Ruston, La., and Fort Wayne, Ind., and received Lieutenants Commission in 1944.

She graduated from Lincoln Land Community College in 1974 and from University of Illinois in Springfield in 1977.

She worked as a Cass County probation officer for several years, the Illinois State Superintendent of Schools, Central Illinois Public Service in Beardstown and retired as secretary to the senior vice president of CIPS in Springfield.

She was a member of First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Beardstown where she was a member of the church choir for several years and also served as organist.

She was active in Beardstown and Springfield Woman’s clubs and Business and Professional Women clubs.

Services were held Saturday at her church with Rev. David Natzke officiating. Burial was in Beardstown City Cemetery. Sager Funeral Home in Beardstown was in charge of arrangements.
