VeteranEverett L. Kingery Of Vermont Dies

Everett Lavon Kingery, 58, of Vermont, died of an apparent heart attack while driving his car at the south edge of Vermont about 7:15 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 8, 1981.

He was born June 11, 1923, in Summum, the son of Terrance and Wealthie Weese Kingery. He was married to Lilly Lucille Riebling on Oct. 31, 1946, in Morganfield, Ky. She preceded him in death on Oct. 8, 1980.

Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Joyce Ozee of Astoria and Miss Teresa Kingery of Vermont; one son, Carl Kingery of Vermont; his mother, Wealthie Kingery of Astoria; four grandchildren; and one sister, Mrs. Esther Weaver of Astoria.

He was a pattern maker’s helper at the Clayton Mark and Company for 30 year. He was a member of the American Legion Post 26 and WWII veteran.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Friday at Kost Memorial Home in Vermont with Collis Trone officiating. Burial with military rites was at the Vermont Cemetery.

Vermont Man Found Dead

A 50-year-old Vermont man was found dead in his car in a cornfield last night about one mile south of Vermont on the Vermont-Astoria blacktop road.

Everett Lavon Kingery suffered an apparent heart attack while driving his car and died, according to Fulton County Coroner Jimmie Keefauver. His car crossed the center line, went up a ditch and 75 feet into a cornfield before stopping.

The car’s ignition was on, Keefauver said. Kingery was pronounced dead at the scene by Fulton County Deputy Coroner Bruce Weiman.
