He was born Feb. 5, 1952, in Rushville, a son of Cleve Jones Jr. and Doris A. Toland Jones. He married Rebecca A. Rebman on Sept. 2, 1979, in Rushville. She survives.
Also surviving are one daughter, Jennifer Bozarth of Springfield; one sister, Judy Jones of Macomb; one brother, Ron Jones of Rushville; one granddaughter, Audrey Bozarth and one grandson, Anderson Bozarth, both of Springfield; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
He graduated from Rushville High School in 1970, Western Illinois University in 1974 and John Marshall Law School in 1979. After graduating from law school, he started in law practice in June 1979 with Carson D. Klitz. Later he had his own practice, served as Rushville City Attorney 1982-87, Schuyler County State’s Attorney 1988-96 and Schuyler/Brown/Cass public defender 2002-10, before retiring in 2019.
He served his community on various boards and committees. He was chairman of the Scripp’s Park Pool New Construction Committee, the Rushville Fitness and Community Center Board as vice president and the Culbertson Memorial Foundation Board as president.
He attended West Side Christian Church in Springfield.
Cremation has been accorded. A Celebration of Life was held Tuesday at Worthington Funeral Home in Rushville with Rose Ross officiating. Private inurnment will be held at a later date.
Memorials may be made to the Culbertson Memorial Hospital Foundation or the Rushville Fitness and Community Center for Active Aging Program Development.
