Ronald G. Johnson, 72, of Canton died at 11:20 a.m. Friday, Dec. 10, 2004, at Renaissance Care Center.

He was born May 14, 1932, in Macomb, a son of Floyd W. "Jack" and Ethelyn Hammond Johnson. He married Pat White on Dec. 20, 1958, in Table Grove. She died June 10, 1994.

Surviving are one brother, F. Dean (and Mary Jo) of Lewistown; and his stepmother, Nina Johnson of Table Grove.

A Korean War Army veteran, he was a member of Lewistown Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5001.

He graduated from Western Illinois University in Macomb in 1958.

He was a teacher and coach at Industry High School for six years and later taught at Lewistown Grade School for 24 years, retiring in 1988. He was a member of the Association of Retired Teachers.

He was a member of Canton Moose Lodge 784 and the Canton Country Club.

Cremation was accorded. A memorial service was held Monday at Oaks-Hines Funeral Home in Canton with Rev. Kenneth Bloyd officiating. Burial of ashes was in Harris Cemetery in Table Grove.

Memorials may be made to Spoon River Hospice at Graham Hospital.
