William Johnson

William Craft Johnson, 74, of Modesto, Calif., died Sunday, March 21, 1999.

He was born April 20, 1924, in Bader, the son of Paul Revere and Anna Keller Johnson. He married Pauline Turner on Aug. 3, 1946, in Sawyer, Kan. She died June 1, 1987. He later married Frances Kearsley on March 4, 1989, in Modesto, Calif. She survives.

Also surviving are four children, Phyllis Boyd of Salida; Carol Bauman and Dale Johnson of Ripon, Calif., and Anette Rogers of Fort Collins, Colo.; two sisters, Joanna Sager of Astoria and Mary Jo Patton of Colorado; two stepchildren, Robert Kearsley and Christine Scalero; 11 grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; and one step-great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by one granddaughter, Susannah Rose Rogers.

He farmed in Illinois and Kansas during his early life. He moved to California, where he worked as a carpenter with Ray Kinzie Construction. His area of expertise was custom cabinetry and joinery. During the last ten years, his time was occupied by making specialty woodworking projects. He was a member of Ripon Grace Brethren Church. His was of the Old German Baptist Church faith.
